UFC welterweight fighter Nick Diaz apparently is not in line for the next title shot, which will be defended by George St. Pierre against Carlos Condit later this year. Diaz is currently serving his suspension after his bout with  Condit because he failed his post-fight drug tests.

His bout with Condit was highly controversial and many felt the Stockton native did enough to warrant a decision nod. Still, Dana White spoke with MMAfighting recently and he seems to be of the opinion that Diaz will not be next in line for the welterweight title shot.

“When Diaz gets off of suspension, he’ll probably fight against one  of the top guys at 170 pounds, and then we’ll see what happens.”

Diaz made it clear that he was done with MMA after his decision loss to Condit, a bout that he felt he won, and he expressed his opinions in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

This could be the final nail in the coffin for Diaz and his future with the UFC. Hopefully he will still want to compete under this banner, even if it isn’t against Condit or GSP. There are some solid opponents out there for him if he wants it. Fights with Josh Koscheck or Jon Fitch would be compelling.

A win over either of these fighters will surely shoot him back up the welterweight ladder and fast-track him into getting a title shot that he feels is long deserved.
