A great UFC featherweight bout is expected to take place between Dustin Poirier and Jonathan Brookins at the TUF 16 Finale.  According to UFC.com, both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout.

This should be an interesting bout that has a lot of implications behind it.  Poirer is coming off a tough loss to Chan Sung Jung via submission in the fourth round, and he will look to get back in the win column when he squares off against the durable Brookins.

Brookins is also coming off a loss to Charles Oliveira, which ended with a submission as well.  He will look to get back into the featherweight mix, and a win over Poirier would be his biggest to date.

Both of these fighters have an interesting set of skills.  Each possess competent grappling skills and their striking is both equally diverse.  Poirier was on a rise before coming up short against Jung.

His transition to American Top Team should sore up those holes, and it will be interesting to see how much he has improved since his last fight.

This should make their fight all the more entertaining, and the winner is one step closer at challenging for the title, which is currently being held by Jose Aldo.

Aldo is running out of challengers, and it is only a matter of time before he decides to move up to the highly competitive lightweight division.

Do either of these fighters present a challenge to Jose Aldo’s throne?
