An exciting bout is set to take place at UFC 155 between UFC featherweight Ricardo Lamas and Erik Koch.  This news comes via MMA Opinion, and both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout.

Erik Koch was suppose to face Jose Aldo at UFC 149, but faced an injury that forced him off the card.  Koch is currently 13-1 in his MMA career, and he is on a four fight win streak.

In his last victory, Koch managed to beat the always durable Jonathan Brookins by way of unanimous decision.  Koch’s striking is a salient skill that allows him to end fights in dramatic fashion.  He is also very dynamic off his back, and he has over 7 wins by submission.

Ricardo Lamas comes into this fight with an overall record of 12-2.  He is currently on a three fight winning streak over some of the best in the featherweight division.  His latest victory was over the dynamic grappler in Hatsu Hioki, which was a fight that showed Lamas’s durability and top control.  He also has marquee wins over Matt Grice and Cub Swanson.

This fight has serious title implications for the winner.  It will also be interesting to see what strategies they try to employ when the square off.  For Koch, he likes to keep the fight standing and land his devastating head kicks.

He has one of the best training partners in Anthony Pettis, which should help him out tremendously in the stand up portion of the fight.  For Lamas, he likes to put pressure on his opponents with his relentless grappling attack.  Since dropping to featherweight, he has never looked better.  A win for him puts him right up there with the elite of the division.
