A dynamic light heavyweight bout is expected to take place between Rashad Evans and Antonio Rogerio Nogueria for the UFC‘s Super Bowl weekend card. This news comes via SporTV, and the bout is expected to take place on Febrauary 2, 2013.
Rashad Evans was last seen inside the octagon when he faced Jon Jones for the light heavyweight championship belt. Evans was on the wrong end of the decision, and he will look to rebound when he takes on Little Nog.
Evans has been adamant about getting marquee match ups because he wants to challenge himself. Little Nog will certainly give him a test, and a win puts him right back in the mix in this division.
Little Nog was last seen in the UFC when he took on Tito Ortiz. In their bout, Nog showed excellent control and displayed some brutal body shots, forcing Ortiz to curl up and the ref stepped in.
It was an emphatic finish for one of the most experienced fighters in the light heavyweight division, and he will look to get right back in the mix when he faces off against Evans. A win for him would be one of his biggest to date, and it certainly would warrant another top match up.
Both of these fighters have had a long layoff, and it will be interesting to see what type of style they try to implement come fight time. For Rashad, he will like to keep this fight standing and land some big shots on the feet.
He may even look to mix in some take downs when the opportunity presents itself. For Little Nog, he would like to get this fight to the ground and utilize his black belt jiu jitsu skills. He also has knockout power on the feet, so don’t be surprised if he tries to land something big during the exchanges.
