Chael Sonnen: Possible fall out with teammate Dan Henderson

Mark J. Rebilas – US Presswire

As Chael Sonnen prepares for what should be an entertaining battle against Jon Jones – both on the set of “The Ultimate Fighter” and in the octagon – he may find himself without the aid of Team Quest teammate Dan Henderson when it comes to preparing for the fight.

During an interview on the MetroPCS online chat, Sonnen said he has not spoken to Henderson since Henderson’s reaction to of his teammate getting the opportunity to face Jones for the light heavyweight title.

Henderson was one of many fighters who said that Sonnen had only gotten the title shot because of his gift of the gab rather than his skills of fighting. He released a tweet that said he should “go to s*** talking school” instead of winning fights.

Henderson later tweeted that he still had love for teammate and did not blame him for taking the opportunity to fight Jones, Sonnen getting the title shot “degraded the sport of MMA.”

Henderson was originally supposed to face Jones for the light heavyweight title back in September, but pulled out of the fight due to an injury. Sonnen offered to face Jones, only for the light heavyweight champion to turn down the fight, which led to the cancellation of UFC 151.

Henderson is now expected to face Lyoto Machida when he returns. If Henderson gets past Machida and Sonnen beats Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight title, this could set up a match between  the two in the future.

If that were the case, both fighters have great wrestling skills, however Henderson has the knock out power to leave Sonnen on the canvas.

Dana White Doesn’t Think Conor McGregor Can Beat Rafael dos Anjos

Things are getting interesting ahead of UFC 196. The headlining fight at that March 5 pay-per-view event will see UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor move up to lightweight to face the champion of that division Rafael dos Anjos. If McGregor succeeds he will become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different divisions simultaneously. The oddsmakers have McGregor as the favorite ahead of the fight. UFC president Dana White doesn’t necessarily hold the same opinion.
