Anderson Silva is reportedly considering a fight with Jon Jones, but his terms for the fight are questionable at best. In order for the bout to take place, Silva wants 50 percent of the UFC. This news comes via Tatame.com.
“The question (about facing Jones) would have to be made to Dana White. Let’s ask if he’ll give me 50% of the UFC. If he will, maybe this fight will happen.”
It’s obvious that Dana White and company will not sign off on this deal, and it does leave a question in the minds of many MMA fans about whether this bout is even possible anymore. Sure, Anderson Silva is the greatest fighter in MMA, but Dana White certainly doesn’t do business like this.
He is a man that likes to have the reins of his company 24/7, and any fighter owning 50 percent of the UFC’s share would certainly hinder Dana White. Jon Jones is currently set to take on Chael Sonnen for season 17 of TUF. Silva, meanwhile, currently doesn’t have any opponents scheduled right now, but it seems like fans can rule out a superfight between Jon Jones and Anderson Silva.
Perhaps the better match up to make, at this point anyway, is Anderson Silva vs. GSP. Both have been long-time staples as champions in the UFC, and it would make the most sense if GSP can get past Carlos Condit this month.
Is Anderson just being tongue and cheek or does he actually want 50 percent of the company? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
