Ronda Rousey will not be the only woman coming to the UFC.

Former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight champion Miesha Tate (13-3) announced via Twitter that she signed with the promotion.

So Stoked to be fighting for the @UFC it’s been a dream of mine for a long time! So happy it’s finally come true.

In her last fight against HOOKnSHOOT champion Julie Kedzie, Tate came back to win the fight in the third round, which impressed many fans; including UFC President Dana White.

While there is speculation that Rousey, the current Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight champion, will be crowned the first UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion, Tate will enter the UFC as a top contender in the women’s division.

There are also rumors that Tate could get the next shot at Rousey, if the super fight between the current her and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos does not materialize.

With Strikeforce closing its doors in 2013, there is no doubt that most – if not all – the fighters in the women’s division will get their chance to fight in the octagon.

The UFC could also bring in fighters from other organizations to really stack the women’s division. If she does not get to fight Rousey, Tate could easily get her pick of opponents.

Tate is currently taking some time off of the sport to brush up on her skill set and regain her passion for fighting. She hopes to return to action in 2013.
