Johny Hendricks was back in action tonight in Montreal, Canada, and he delivered a emphatic KO over Martin Kampmann in the first round. This makes it his fifth fight in a row that he is won, and there is no doubt that he is next in line for the UFC welterweight title shot. Johny landed his patented left hand, and it was all over for Kampmann as Hendricks landed some more shots until the ref stepped in.
This fight is one of Hendricks’s best fights of his career, and it was also his most important. He now has beat Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck, and now Martin Kampmann. Talk about an impressive winning streak. Everyone knew that Hendricks had the power in this fight, and it was just a question if he could connect on Kampmann, who has shown to be hittable in his past fights.
Hendricks certainly answered the bell, delivering one of the most impressive knockouts and the only knockout of the night. This certainly warrants KO Of The Night, and even better for him because it was his wife’s birthday.
Up next for Hendricks is more the likely the winner of the Carlos Condit vs. George St. Pierre fight. If Condit wins, this fight is great in terms of relevancy and time frame.
If GSP wins, then he will more than likely have to wait for his title shot, since GSP will more than likely face Anderson Silva at a later date. Hendricks has said in the past that he is content to wait on the sidelines, so long as he gets the title shot in the end. Congrats Johny Hendricks!
