Irish fighter Aisling “Ais the Bash” Daly will fight in her home country for her final MMA fight in 2012.
In a report by MMAJunkie.com, Daly will drop down to strawweight (115-pounds) to face undefeated Finnish prospect Katja Kankaanpaa at Cage Warriors 51, in Dublin, Ireland, on Dec. 31.
Daly is currently on a two-fight losing streak. When she last fought in Ireland, she had lost to Rosi Sexton by decision at Cage Warriors 47 in the semi-finals of the Cage Warriors 125-pound Women’s Championship tournament. In her last fight against Barb Honchak at Invicta FC 3 in October, where Daly once again lost by decision.
Prior to the fight with Sexton, Daly was on a three-fight winning streak that included winning and successfully defending the NAAFS 125-pound Women’s championship.
The last time she fought at strawweight was back in 2010 when she lost to Lisa Ellis in the quarterfinals of the Bellator Women’s Flyweight tournament. She would make the move to 125 in November when she defeated Molly Hestel in her Cage Warriors debut.
While Daly is getting a chance to once again compete in her home country, Kankaanpaa will be making her Cage Warriors debut. She currently has a 6-0-1 record that includes three finishes (two submission and one TKO). Her last fight against Simona Soukupova ended in a split-draw. Defeating Daly would give Kankaanpaa the biggest win in her young career.
