Canadian fighter Alexis “Ally-Gator” Davis (12-5) will have her hands full when she faces Shayna “Queen of Spades”Baszler (15-7) at Invicta FC 4 in January, however she also has her sights set on Strikeforce champion Ronda Rousey.

A win over Baszler at Invicta FC 4 could propel Davis into the UFC where she could get her shot at Rousey.

In an interview with BJPenn.com on Nov. 12, Davis said that while Rousey joining the UFC was a big stepping stone for women’s MMA, she does not feel the Strikeforce has come across someone with a strong jiu-jitsu background.

“I’m a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt having to say ‘Ronda, [you] know you’re looking for a fight, looking for a challenge, I’m more than welcome to take you up on that.”

Davis had previously crossed paths with Baszler in 2010. Coming into the fight on short notice, Ally-Gator was able to go the distance with the Queen of Spades, who came away with the decision victory.

Davis has gone 5-2 in her last seven fights and has not been stopped since 2009.

In addition to her background in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Davis has a tough chin. In her loss against former Strikeforce champion Sarah Kaufman, Davis was able to withstand her opponent’s power and striking.

While she is one of several fighters who have called out Rousey, Davis may have a strong enough ground game to match Rousey’s grappling.

In her last fight, Davis submitted Hitomi Akano with a rear naked choke in the second round. If she can stop Baszler in similar fashion, the Ally-Gator may get a call from the UFC.
