A dynamic bantamweight bout is set to take place between former champion Urijah Faber and the always dynamic Ivan Menjivar.

Both of these fighters have been a staple in the lower weight classes of MMA for some time now, and they both will be looking to propel themselves to the front of the line in order to challenge champion Dominick Cruz, who was scheduled to undergo a second ACL surgery.

Urijah Faber is coming into this fight off a devastating loss to Renan Barao earlier in the year.  In the fight, Barao just seemed to have Faber’s number, picking him apart on the feet for the majority of the rounds.   Faber is currently 26-6 in his overall career, and a win over Menjivar certainly gets him right back in the mix.

A loss would be detrimental to his career, so he will need to come out of the gate out and have a good showing if he wants to remain relevant in the bantamweight division.

Menjivar is comes into this fight sporting a record of 25-9.  He is coming into this fight off an impressive submission victory over Azamat Gashimov.  In the bout, Ivan showed the technical skills on the ground that have made him a star over the years.  Menjivar has faced Faber earlier in his career, which makes the dynamic of this fight all the more intriguing.  In their first meeting, Menjivar landed an illegal kick to a downed opponent, giving Faber a chance to claim victory.

Menjivar will look to avenge that loss, which would be huge for his career.  Also, it would put him up there with Renan Barao, who is the interim champ right now.

Dana White Doesn’t Think Conor McGregor Can Beat Rafael dos Anjos

Things are getting interesting ahead of UFC 196. The headlining fight at that March 5 pay-per-view event will see UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor move up to lightweight to face the champion of that division Rafael dos Anjos. If McGregor succeeds he will become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different divisions simultaneously. The oddsmakers have McGregor as the favorite ahead of the fight. UFC president Dana White doesn’t necessarily hold the same opinion.

Further she may be the most vocal critic of Rousey’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan.
