UFC on Fuel TV 8 News: Stefan Struve vs. Mark Hunt Possible
A heavyweight bout is in the works between Pride veteran Mark Hunt and Stefan Struve. Both fighters have built some momentum for themselves as of late, so their meeting is all the more meaningful. This news comes via MMA Weekly.
The bout is expected to take place on the UFC on Fuel 8 card, which will take place in Japan.
Hunt will be coming into this fight off a beautiful KO win over Cheick Kongo, which was his fourth straight victory under the UFC banner. Hunt, a longtime Pride fighter, will get the chance to move up the heavyweight rankings when he takes on Struve, who has also built up some momentum recently.
Stefan Struve is coming off an impressive TKO victory against Stipe Miocic; a bout that was back and forth until Struve started finding his range and landed some good shots, sending Miocic to the canvas in dramatic fashion. Will he be able to do the same against hunt, who has shown equally impressive stand up skills? This is the interesting question.
Struve has shown hittable in the past, getting KO’d by current heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos, and taking a beating from Travis Browne. Mark Hunt has the ability to end the fight in dramatic fashion on the feet, but he has shown vulnerability when on the ground. Struve has been able to use his long frame to submit his opponents, and it will bet interesting to see if he can get this fight to the ground and do the same against Hunt.
The winner is one step to challenging for the title, and the loser takes a serious hit in the heavyweight rankings and also their brand as well.
