UFC 158 News: Rory MacDonald vs. Carlos Condit On Tap
UFC 158 is shaping up as a potential welterweight bout between Carlos Condit and Rory MacDonald is on tap. This news comes from MMA Junkie:
MacDonald (14-1 MMA, 5-1 UFC) on Wednesday told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) he’s been granted the rematch with Condit (28-6 MMA, 5-2 UFC), and UFC President Dana White confirmed the booking to MMAjunkie.com
This bout would take place in March and also in Montreal Canada, which is Rory’s backyard. Condit is coming into this fight off a war against George St. Pierre. Though losing a decision, Condit showed the heart and relentless attack that he is known for.
MacDonald is coming off the biggest win of his career against B.J. Penn. In the bout, MacDonald outclassed Penn on the feet, and was never really in trouble at any point during the fight.
This fight is interesting in many aspects. For one, it will be a rematch between the two fighters, where Condit got the finish in the third round against MacDonald when they fought the first time. Up until the third round, Rory was dominating the fight, showcasing a grappling attack that stifled Condit for the majority of the round. However, Condit would rally back and stop him in the third round.
Both fighters have grown considerable since their first meeting, and it will be intriguing to see what adjustments each fighters makes in order to come out victorious. Will George St. Pierre give MacDonald savvy technical advice since he was the last guy to fight him? Will Condit be able to make lightening strike twice? Stay tuned!
