UFC featherweight Leonard Garcia is set to lock horns with Max Holloway, who replaced an injured Cody McKenzie for UFC 155. The bout will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 29, 2012.
Garcia has been one of the most exciting fighters in the featherweight division. One of his most memorable fights was against Roger Huerta, where both fighters would throw caution to the wind and throw heavy leather for three rounds. It was Garcia’s coming out party, and he would go on to have a great career when he transitioned over to the WEC.
After competing in the WEC, Garcia returned to the octagon to face Nam Phan. In this fight, Garcia put on an exciting show for the fans, landing some heavy bombs that ultimately won him a split decision. However, he is now on a three fight losing streak. One more and he may be given his UFC walking papers. He will need to fight with desperation against Holloway if he wants be remain under the Zuffa banner.
Conversely, Max Holloway is riding high off a TKO win over Justin Lawrence, who competed on The Ultimate Fighter. It was a beautiful display of strikes from Holloway, and he will look to do the same when he squares off with Garcia.
Both fighters have knockout power in their hands, and also are no stranger when the fight hits the ground. This bout has the makings to be explosive, and the winner puts themselves right back in the mix in the featherweight division.
