It appears things have turned for the worst for Bellator fighter Paul Daley. Paul Daley was expected to make his welterweight tournament debut under the Bellator banner, but news from Josh Gross, who writes for ESPN, revealed that Daley got into a scuffle at some bar.
It was later announced that he is facing assault charges and might even have to do some jail time. This is not something Daley wanted to hear, and he might have to pay the consequences. Gross would reveal that Daley is barred from the United States, so he will not be able to square off against War Machine, which would have been an exciting stand up war.
This is not the first time that Daley has been involved in some controversial activities. After losing to Josh Koscheck, he would swing at him even though the fight was completely over. This move infuriated Dana White, forcing him to ban Paul Daley from ever competing inside the UFC.
Now, he is in trouble with the law, and it doesn’t look too bright for ‘Mr. Semtex’. He is only getting older, and his time to fight is certainly dwindling down. Instead of fighting and making a living, he may have to serve his time just like his scheduled opponent War Machine had to do.
Whether Daley will fight after he serves his time remains to be seen, but this is truly devastating news for him and his camp. He was expected to make a splash in the Bellator welterweight tournament, and was one of the most powerful punches in all of MMA. Hopefully, this news can be sorted out quickly because Daley is a great asset that Bellator could surely use.
