A compelling middleweight bout is expected to go down this weekend for UFC 155 when Alan Belcher takes on Yushin Okami. Both fighters will be looking to propel their name up the rankings, which is currently being dominated by Anderson Silva.
Alan Belcher is coming into this fight with an overall record of 18-6. He is coming off a much needed win over Rousimar Palhares, stopping him in the first round via TKO. It was a sterling performance from Belcher; one that he needed because he hadn’t fought in over a year since this bout. This was due to a significant eye injury that he faced in training, which almost forced Belcher to hang up the gloves entirely.
Belcher is now on a four fight winning streak, and he truly believes he has what it takes to dethrone Anderson Silva. Belcher couples his kickboxing quite nicely with his solid grappling skills. This fight with Okami will be a rematch, where he lost a unanimous decision back at UFC 62 in their first outing. Both fighters have progressed tremendously since their first meeting, so this fight has the makings to be a classic.
Yushin Okami is coming into this fight with an overall record of 27-7. In his last fight, Okami would go on to get a TKO victory against Buddy Roberts in the second round. It was a much needed win, since he was coming off a devastating TKO loss against Tim Boetsch earlier in the year. Now, Okami is set to continue his momentum in hopes of challenging for the coveted UFC middleweight belt once again.
Both fighters have made their mark in the UFC since their first meeting. Belcher has proven to be one of the most athletic guys in the division, and Okami has shown why he is one of the best grapplers in the division. Will history repeat itself when these two fighters lock horns? Stay tuned!
