UFC on FX: Vitor Belfort vs. Michael Bisping Preview
A highly anticipated middleweight bout is set to go down January 19 , 2013 between Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping. Belfort, a fighter who possesses some of the fastest hands in the division, will look to rebound off his loss to Jon Jones. In this bout, Belfort would lock up an arm bar in the first round, giving Jones all he could handle and even almost finished the bout. However, Jones would recover and end up finish Belfort with his own submission.
Now, Belfort is looking to get back in the mix in the middleweight division, and he certainly has the power to give any man in this division a stern test. Belfort has always had questionable cardio, and he will need to shore up this weakness if he wants to come out on top against Bisping, who has cardio for days.
Bisping comes into this fight off a tough win over Brian Stann. It was a hard fought victory, and one that might have warranted him a title shot, but a bout with Anderson Silva was never booked. If Bisping is able to defeat Belfort in decisive fashion, then he is the clear favorite to fight Anderson Silva for the middleweight championship.
Bisping has went on record saying this fight with Belfort will be an easy fight. He has said that Belfort will gas, and that he will become a human punching bag later rounds. This remains to be seen, but Bisping will need to take this fight seriously because Belfort can end the fight with one punch, which is something Bisping has yet to show in his UFC tenure.
