Gegard Mousasi vs. Mike Kyle Preview

Gegard Mousasi Strikeforce

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

One bout on Strikeforce’s last card that should exhibit a lot of action is the Gegard Mousasi vs. Mike Kyle fight, which takes place January 12, 2013.  Both fighters will be looking to end their Strikeforce career in an emphatic fashion as both want to go into the UFC with some momentum.

This light heavyweight bout is interesting because both fighters have knockout power in their hands, and also train with some of the best gyms in MMA.  The winner of this bout puts their name in the mix in the UFC’s light heavyweight division, and the loser  might have to worry about being employed under the Zuffa banner.

Gegard is coming off a unanimous decision win over Ovince St. Preux.  He is currently 33-3-2 in his career, and has notable victories over Jake O’Brien, Sokoudjou, Mark Hunt, Renato Sobral, Ronaldo Souza, and Hector Lombard.  Gegard, one of the most experienced fighters in the light heavyweight division, has been on a roll.  He has won four of his last five fights, and is putting everything together nicely.

His opponent Mike Kyle comes into this fight with an overall record of 19-8-2.  He trains with some of the best at American Kickboxing Academy, but has had an up and down career.  A win over Gegard would be one of his biggest to date, which gives him some extra incentive.  Also, he will look to join fellow AKA members in the UFC, so motivation shouldn’t be a factor for him leading up to this fight.

Both of these fighters like to start off strong, which should make for an exciting fight that more than likely won’t go the distance.  For the latest news on  this last Strikeforce card, be sure to keep it locked @ www.rantsports.com.
