Alexander Gustafsson UFC

Joe Nicholson-US PRESSWIRE

Alexander Gustafsson has been on a rise as of late in the middleweight division.  Coming off a dominant win over Shogun Rua, Gustafsson has made the case as being one of the best light heavyweights in the UFC.  Gegard Mousasi also has been considered one of the best in the light heavyweight in MMA, and he will get to test out his skills in the UFC against Gustafsson.

This news comes from Ariel Helwani via MMA Fighting.com.  This is an excellent match up for both fighters.  Since Jon Jones is currently set to take on Chael Sonnen for his light heavyweight belt, both of these fighters will be able to get one more fight under their belt.

Gustafsson has rapidly increased his skills since losing to Phil Davis via submission.  Now, he is on a six fight winning streak and will be looking to solidify his status as the number one contender in the division.

Gegard Mousasi is coming into this fight off a emphatic submission win over Mike Kyle.  Mousasi, a long time standout under the Strikeforce banner, will try to prove he has what it takes to compete with UFC caliber fighters.

He is one of the most experienced fighters in the division, having an overall record of 33-3-2.  He has notable wins over Keith Jardine, Jake O’Brien, Mark Hunt, Renaldo Souza, and Denis Kang.  Gustafsson will be one his toughest test to date, but he certainly has the experience and has seen everything inside the cage.
