John Dodson UFC

Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The flyweights are bringing the action this Saturday to Fox, which features Demetrious Johnson and John Dodson.  This championship bout has the makings to be a classic, and should be a high paced fight as both fighters are two of the quickest in the UFC.

Demetrious Johnson will be looking to defend his title for the first time.  His last performance was against Joseph Benavidez, which was a closely fought win for Johnson.  Now, he has his sights locked on John Dodson, who presents a lot of interesting challenges for the current flyweight champion.  Johnson is currently 16-2-1 in his overall career, and many consider him to be the fastest fighter in all of the UFC.

John Dodson was a member of The Ultimate Fighter: Bisping vs. Miller series.  He would go on to win the show, and displayed some incredible striking against T.J. Dillashaw, stopping him in the first round via TKO.  Since this victory, Dodson has gone 2-0 and will be looking to capture his UFC title dreams.  Training with some of the best under Greg Jackson, Dodson has showed knockout power as well as speed.  He will need these tools if he wants to win against Demetrious.

In terms of styles, both of these fighters are very well rounded.  For Demetrious, he will look to utilize his superior wrestling in hopes of wearing Dodson down.  For Dodson, his best chance at victory lies in the stand up portion of the fight.  He has dynamic kicks and punches, and has the ability to end any fighter’s night if he connects flush.  Whatever the outcome is, this should be a highly entertaining fight from start to finish.

Dana White Doesn’t Think Conor McGregor Can Beat Rafael dos Anjos

Things are getting interesting ahead of UFC 196. The headlining fight at that March 5 pay-per-view event will see UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor move up to lightweight to face the champion of that division Rafael dos Anjos. If McGregor succeeds he will become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different divisions simultaneously. The oddsmakers have McGregor as the favorite ahead of the fight. UFC president Dana White doesn’t necessarily hold the same opinion.
