UFC on Fox 6 displayed a compelling light heavyweight fight between Glover Teixeira and Rampage Jackson. This fight had a lot of meaning behind it. For Rampage, he was looking to end his UFC career with a win, but it was not meant to be. Glover Teixeira dominated every round of their co-main event, sending Rampage back to the drawing board with a unanimous decision loss.
In the first round, Teixeira would establish his boxing combinations, forcing Rampage back. He would also get a take downs and land some good punches. The second was more of the same, where Glover would force Rampage back and land some much needed take downs. Rampage would try to explode with some power punches, but Glover evaded nicely and reset in the center of the octagon.
In the third, it was clear that Rampage was adamant about landing something big, but that big shot would never land for him. Instead, Teixeira would take him down again and cement his status as being a viable contender in the light heavyweight division. Up next for Teixeira is unknown at the moment, but it is clear he has what it takes to compete with the best inside the UFC.
For Rampage, he is more than likely heading to Bellator. This is the second best promotion currently, and they recently just signed a competent light heavyweight of their own in King Mo. Both have had beef with each other in the past, so maybe their paths will cross under the Bellator banner.
For Teixeira, any top contender in the light heavyweight division is ideal. Jon Jones is currently set to face Chael Sonnen for the belt, but maybe the winner of this fight will square off against Teixeira. Congrats to Glover for executing a great game plan.
