Kaiyana Rain to fight Kalin Curran at PXC 36
Despite losing to Tecia “The Tiny Tornado” Torres in her professional debut, strawweight fighter Kaiyana Rain returns to action in March to face Kalin Curran at Pacific X-Treme Combat (PXC) 36.
Curran, who went 3-1 with one no contest as an amateur, will be making her debut as a pro while Rain will be looking to bounce back from a decision loss against Torres. One advantage Rain will have is her overall experience in competition.
Prior to the fight against the Tiny Tornado, Rain had ended her amateur run with four straight victories and three championships. She also trains with current Invicta FC Atomweight champion Jessica Penne, which could also factor into the fight.
However Curran is also in good company as well She currently trains with the likes of UFC fighter Max Holloway, who is coming off a split-decision victory over Leonard Garcia, and Dustin Kimura, who is set to make his octagon debut at UFC 156.
The fight between Rain and Curran will be first pro-women’s bout in PXC history. If Rain and Curran can put on a show that will leave fans and promoters on the edge of their seats, we might see more women’s bouts in the PXC cage in the future.
For Rain, a win over Curran would put her fighting career back on the right track, maybe even a chance to avenge her loss to Torres.
