UFC 156: Joseph Benavidez vs. Ian McCall Preview
UFC 156 features a compelling flyweight fight between Joseph Benavidez and Ian McCall. Both of these fighters will be fighting for a chance to challenge Demetrious Johnson, who recently just successfully defended his belt against John Dodson.
The flyweight division is still shaping up, so Benavidez and McCall are more than likely next in line even though Demetrious has beaten them both. Benavidez will be coming into this fight off a split decision loss to the current flyweight champ. In their bout, both landed some good punches and it seemed to be a close affair for the majority of the fight. However, DJ would land more take downs and earn a close decision.
Now, Benavidez would like to get back to his winning ways. Before losing to DJ, Joseph was on a four-fight winning streak. He was very dominant and has the capabilities to be champion if he puts everything together. Training with the like of Urijah Faber and Chad Mendes, Joseph has the skills to beat any fighter in the flyweight division if he is on his game.
Ian McCall will be coming into this fight off a draw and a loss to Demetrious Johnson. Before losing, he was widely considered the best flyweight in the world. McCall is one of the most dynamic strikers in the division, and he will look to rebound off his tough losses in hopes of getting another UFC flyweight championship.
Both of these fighters are extremely fast and it should be a treat for the fans, who also get to witness a featherweight championship between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar.
