This weekend, the UFC features a great light heavyweight bout between Rashad Evans and Rodrigo Nogueira. Both of these fighters will be fighting for a chance to move up the light heavyweight rankings, where Jon Jones is the current champion and has been extremely dominant.
Rashad Evans is coming into this fight off a championship loss to Jon Jones. Both were former training partners, which brought the best out of both fighters. Jon Jones would earn a decision victory, but Rashad has his moments.
Training out of the Blackzillians, Rashad will look to get back into the win column in hopes of getting another title shot. Rashad sports one of the best records in the UFC, holding impressive wins over Chuck Liddell, Michael Bisping, Forrest Griffin, and Rampage Jackson. Also, he is a former champion and is one of the best transition wrestlers in the UFC right now.
Rodrigo Nogueira is coming into this fight off a dominant win over Tito Ortiz, where he was able to land some devastating body shots that forced the ref to step in. A long-time Pride veteran, Rodrigo has showed some excellent striking since joining the UFC. It will be interesting to see what strategy he tries to implement in his fight this weekend as he has excellent jiu jitsu thanks to his brother and the Black House training camp.
Both fighters are looking to build some momentum in hopes of challenging for a title, which has fireworks in the making. Be sure to keep it locked here for live coverage of this bout and the rest of the UFC 156 card.
