With Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos now facing Ediene Gomes at the next Invicta Fighting Championships event, some fans were wondering whether or not Julia “The Jewel”  Budd, Gomes’ original opponent, would still be on the card.

Budd quickly assured her fans that she would still be fighting at Invicta FC 5, which takes place April 5. Her opponent is Australian fighter Fiona Muxlow.

Muxlow, who is 6-2 as a pro, is coming off of a first-round submission loss to former Strikeforce champion Marloes Coenen back at Dream 18: Special NYE 2012. Prior to her loss, Muxlow was on a three-fight winning streak.

Budd on the other hand is coming into the match with a 4-2 record. She finished both of her last two fights in the first round via TKO. Although Budd may have had a rough patch at the beginning of her MMA career, I think she is coming into her own.

Although Gomes would have been a good test for Budd, Muxlow is no push over. Her experience and submission skills make her a dangerous opponent on the ground. However Budd’s background in Muay Thai gives her the edge in the stand up game.

As for her original opponent, Budd may get her change to fight Gomes in the future. Who knows, if she defeats Muxlow in an impressive fashion, the Jewel may find herself up against the Cyborg.
