Mark J. Rebilas- US Presswire

A middleweight bout is set to take place at UFC 162 between heavy-hitters Mark Munoz and Tim Boetsch.  This bout will clear up the middleweight division a bit, and the winner puts themselves right up there with the best of them.  Both fighters are coming off losses, so it’s imperative that they get a victory to stay in the mix.

Mark Munoz will be coming into this fight off a devastating knockout loss to Chris Weidman, where Weidman was able to dominant Munoz both on the ground and on foot.  He will need to rebound back in a big way, and a win over Tim Boetsch certainly proves he still has what it takes to compete with the very best.  Before losing to Chris, Munoz was on a four fight winning streak, beating some tough fighters like Aaron Simpson, Demian Maia and Chris Leben.

Tim Boetsch will be coming into this fight off a deflating TKO loss to Costa Philippou.  In the bout, Boetsch wasn’t able to secure any take downs, which hindered his ability to have good cardio in the third round.  Before this loss, Tim was on a four-fight winning streak, and beat the likes of Yushin Okami and Hector Lombard.  A win for Tim would certainly put him right back in the mix.

Munoz loves to get fights to the ground and execute some brutal ground and pound, where Tim likes to force the issue and land viscous upper cuts on foot.  It should be an excellent middleweight bout that won’t go all three rounds.

Dana White Doesn’t Think Conor McGregor Can Beat Rafael dos Anjos

Things are getting interesting ahead of UFC 196. The headlining fight at that March 5 pay-per-view event will see UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor move up to lightweight to face the champion of that division Rafael dos Anjos. If McGregor succeeds he will become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different divisions simultaneously. The oddsmakers have McGregor as the favorite ahead of the fight. UFC president Dana White doesn’t necessarily hold the same opinion.

Dr. AnnMaria De Mars is the first woman ever to win a gold medal at the World Judo Championship doing so in 1984. She is also the mother of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. Further she may be the most vocal critic of Rousey’s coach Edmond Tarverdyan. Appearing on Submission Radio De Mars once again spoke out on Tarverdyan commenting on Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193. “I predicted it in advance Ronda trained with an idiot and a fraud” said De Mars.
