In a fight buried deep in the UFC 158 preliminary card, Rick Story takes on Strikeforce veteran Quinn Mulhern in a welterweight bout.
Story, who was recently a top contender in the 170-pound division, looks to get back on track after a brutal submission loss to Demian Maia at UFC 153. Mulhern has won three consecutive fights and is making his UFC debut.
Many would assume this match would be featured on the televised portion of the preliminary card. The UFC, however, has dropped this fight so far down on the preliminary card that the only way for MMA fans to view it is by streaming it on Facebook.
Story is an exciting fighter who constantly puts pressure on his opponents. His drive to win is apparent as he regularly moves forward, putting his opponents on their heels.
Story recently discussed his motivation with Arial Helwani of MMA Fighting. “I always put pressure on myself to win my fights,” Story said. “If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be a fighter.”
Mulhern is an equally hungry fighter. The former King of the Cage welterweight champion is on an impressive run, winning 10 of last 11 fights. The relatively unknown fighter can launch himself into the top 10 with a victory over Story.
Mulhern’s remarkable run, however, does not intimidate Story.
“I’m ready to throw down,” Story said. “I’m ready to go in and put on a fight.”
Unfortunately, for Story, a limited number of MMA fans will have the opportunity to view his handiwork on the Facebook preliminary fights.
