Simona Soukupova: British Prospect Poised To Make Impact At Invicta FC Debut
British fighter Simona Soukupova is taking the next big step in her MMA career as she faces Cassie Rodish at Invicta FC 5, April 5.
According to a report by MMA Rising.com, Soukupova will replace Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc, who pulled out of the fight due to a back injury.
While the fight will take place on the event’s preliminary card, it could turn out to be quite a contest.
Although she is 3-2-1 in her career, Soukupova has yet to be finished in a fight. Her only two losses came against Felice Herrig and Karla Benitez, both by decision. She also is coming off of a first-round submission victory over Elodie Pugent back in November 2012.
Meanwhile, Rodish is currently riding a four-fight winning streak that includes four stoppages. Her most recent win was over Stephanie Frausto, sister of Bellator champion Zolia Frausto Gurgel, by TKO in the third round. If Rodish defeats Soukupova, she will secure her status as a top contender in Invicta’s atomweight division.
One factor may include the fight is the weight cut for Soukupova, who mainly fights at 115 pounds. If she has a hard time cutting the weight, it may have an effect her stamina in the fight, especially in the later rounds.
Still, if she can pull off a performance similar to her last fight, then the only thing Soukupova will have to worry about is where she will deposit her “Submission of the Night” bonus.
