UFC 158: Winner of Johny Hendricks vs. Carlos Condit is New No.1 Contender
UFC 158 showcases a lot of intriguing welterweight bouts between elite fighters, and one bout that has garnered a lot of attention is the bout between Johny Hendricks and Carlos Condit. Both of these fighters are right at the top of the division, and Dana White has confirmed that the winner of this bout will be next in line for the title.
At the UFC 158 Pre-Fight Press Conference, White said, “Yeah I actually like this fight with Carlos Condit, the guy who comes out of this fight the winner is definitely the number one contender.”
This is huge news for both of these fighters that might actually make them fight harder, since they will get the chance to take home UFC gold if they come out victorious Saturday night. Hendricks has been campaigning for a title shot against Georges ever since he knocked Jon Fitch in the first round. Despite Hendricks looking dominant at welterweight, Georges elected to fight Nick Diaz for this Saturday’s main event.
Carlos Condit is coming off a championship fight against GSP, showcasing an excellent striking attack that at one point sent GSP to the canvas. A few more adjustments and he might be able to take home UFC gold. First things first, however, as he will have to get past the one-punch knockout artist in Hendricks.
Fans should expect fireworks from these two, and this bout has both Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night written all over it. Will Hendricks land his power left hook and become the number one contender or will Carlos prove to be too dynamic on the feet and gain another title shot?
