One show on television that certainly has decreased in popularity over the years has been The Ultimate Fighter.  Every year the show displays up-and-coming fighters who compete on the show for a chance at a UFC contract.  Over the years, the show has become stagnate as they produce the same type of content time and time again save for their live season format, which was a novel way to garner more views.

TUF season 17 has also surprisingly interesting thanks to the always entertaining coach Chael Sonnen.  Season 18 is shaping up to be even more exciting as women will also be fighting on the show, and they will be living inside TUF house along with men. Dana White presented this news during UFC 158, where he would announce that the fighters on the show would be both men and women.

Coaching the next season will be Ronda Rousey and the winner of the Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano bout.  This new fold in the show’s format should be compelling, and it will be interesting to see how the men and women interact while they spend weeks stuck inside a house without any cellphone or internet.  It will also be fun to see how the fighters respond and listen to their coaches, who will be the first women to ever coach the show.

Casting calls and tryouts for the show will begin April 15, 2013, and fighters will be notified at the end of the tryouts if they are selected to the next stage.  Will TUF season 18 be a success?  Stay tuned!
