UFC lightweight fighter, Diego Sanchez, has been a staple for the UFC for some time now.  He competed in the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, where he would face Kenny Florian in the finals and come out victorious.  Since that fight, he would go on an impressive five fight winning streak, beating some quality opponents in Nick Diaz, Karo Parisyan, and Joe Riggs.

However, he would suffer back to back losses to Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch, which compelled him to move down to the lightweight division.   At lightweight, Sanchez would challenge B.J. Penn for the title.  He showed tremendous heart, but he ultimately suffered defeat.  Since then, he has moved up and down in weight and is just looking for marquee match ups.

Sanchez has gone on record saying he would like to fight Josh Thomson, Gilbert Melendez, or even Nate Diaz for his next fight.  Any of these fights would certainly revitalize Sanchez’s career, and they would project him up the lightweight rankings.  Among these bouts, probably the most intriguing is a Diaz fight.   Sanchez already holds a win over Nate’s brother, Nick Diaz, so the story line is already there if the UFC wants to use it.

Whoever Sanchez faces next, he has always put on exciting fights and will be looking to do the same in his next bout.  Win or lose, Sanchez wears his heart on his sleeve and has never really been in a boring fight.  For that, he will always be a fan favorite.
