Former UFC light heavyweight champ Rampage Jackson has finally signed a deal with Bellator. This news was broke by Spike TV‘s president Kevin Kay and also Bellator President Bjorn Rebney.
Before this move, Jackson was known for his epic bouts in Pride and inside the UFC. Jackson defeated Chuck Liddell to become the new light heavyweight champion of the world. From that point on, it was an up and down career. Now, it looks like he will end his career with Bellator, which is arguably the second-largest MMA promotion in the world right now.
Not only will Jackson compete under the Bellator banner, but he will get the chance to wrestle under the TNA promotion. Obviously, this is a dynamic deal for Jackson, and it will be good to finally see him back inside the cage. There are some viable fighters in Bellator’s light heavyweight division, most notably Muhammed Lawal.
Both of these fighters have had confrontations with each other in the past, so their meeting would be intriguing in that regard.
Rampage has always been an interesting character in the MMA world. His charisma outside the cage was just as entertaining as his fighting style, which was predicated on his crisp boxing and power left hook. It will be interesting to see how Jackson fares under the Bellator promotion as he is currently on a three fight losing streak.
If he wants to remain relevant in this sport, he will need to sort out his cardio issues which have hindered him from performing at his best in the past.
