A lightweight bout is in the works between top UFC contenders Pat Healy and Khabib Nurmagomedov. Both of these fighters has displayed some exciting grappling skills inside the UFC, making their bout all the more intriguing in terms of the ground battle.
Coming into this exciting matchup, Healy sports an overall record of 29-16-1, and is on an impressive six-fight winning streak. It would have been seven straight wins, but a failed drug test forced the UFC to declare his recent win over Jim Miller to be a no contest. It’s unfortunate that this happened, as Healy also was going to win a Submission of the Night award. Now, he will get his chance to defeat a durable, hungry fighter in Khabib.
Khabib is one of the hottest prospects in the lightweight division right now. He is currently on a 20-fight winning streak, which is quite the impressive feat. He is one of the most dominant wrestlers in the division, and his skills were on full display in his latest win over Abel Trujillo.
A win over Healy would be his biggest to date, and would certainly make waves in the division where Ben Henderson has been able to reign at the top for a couple of years now.
Both of these fighters have certainly earned their praise on the biggest stage. They don’t talk much trash, and back everything up with their skills inside the cage, which is commendable. If the winner can finish the other in impressive fashion, they should be next in line for the title, which will be defended by Henderson against Anthony Pettis.
