Alistair Overeem vs. Travis Browne Will Be Fireworks From The Start
UFC on Fox Sports 1 will featuring a historic card which should be thrilling from start to finish. One of the most anticipated bouts on the card is a heavyweight match between Alistair Overeem and Travis Browne. Both will be looking for a title shot with a win, so their motivation will be at an all-time high.
Coming into this bout, Overeem will be looking to rebound in a big way as his latest UFC performance ended badly. Antonio Silva was able to get the TKO over Overeem in the third round, and this is partly due to Overeem’s lack of respect for Silva’s power and standup abilities. He paid for it dearly, and this bout with Browne will give him the chance to prove he is an elite heavyweight and has what it takes to challenge for the title.
Browne is coming off an impressive KO victory over Gabriel Gonzaga which re-established himself in the heavyweight division. He is a couple of wins away from a title shot, but his standup abilities have never looked better. A win over Overeem would be his biggest win to date, and would solidify his status as being an elite heavyweight.
In terms of the stylistic match up, this heavyweight bout has the makings to be fireworks from the start. Both have knockout power in their hands, and they are content to exchange on the feet.
Overeern is better at using his kicks and knees, which he will need along with exceptional defense to come out the victor. Browne has underrated grappling skills, and he may want to tap into this department against Overeem, who has been known to fade against fighters who can pressure him on the ground.
So who comes out the victor in this fantastic heavyweight matchup? And will the winner be next in line for a title shot?
