Bellator Axe Women’s Division In Puzzling Move

Bellator has officially dropped their women’s division along with their biggest female stars in an unexpected turn of events.

Jessica Aguilar (15-4), Jessica Eye (10-1) and Felice Herrig (9-4) have all been released from the promotion after being part of the company for a long time. Hopefully, these female fighters will be signed up to other promotions immediately, as they are some of the best talents in WMMA at the moment. Aguilar is currently in ‘tweeting’ talks with Legacy FC, and Herrig has signed on with the more popular Invicta FC.

Bellator’s decision may come to a surprise to many, especially when you consider the ‘boom’ in popularity that WMMA has had over the last two years due to the incredibly charismatic Ronda Rousey.

The decision becomes even more puzzling as you look at the talent Bellator had, having housed some of the best female fighters in the world. With their upcoming PPV, it would seem Bellator are getting back to basics in selling their events, using big names even the most basic MMA fan knows as well as mixing in their own champions.

The women in Bellator deserve more exposure than they received, and since most of them are too light to fight in the UFC 135 pound division, I hope they find their way to Invicta FC and make a name for themselves.
