Former Bellator fighter Jessica Eye has been picked up by the UFC. This is great news for Eye, as she gets the chance to compete with some of the best female fighters in the world. This signing came to fruition when Bellator announced that they were dropping their women’s division entirely.
Eye is currently on a seven-fight winning streak, and she will look to make a splash in the UFC’s bantamweight division, which is currently being dominated by Ronda Rousey at the moment. In her fighting tenure, Eye was able to beat some quality opponents in Jennifer Scott, Kelly Warren and Zolia Gurgel.
She is expected to make her UFC debut against veteran Sarah Kaufman, who will also be looking to make a splash in the UFC. Kaufman is one of the best strikers in women’s MMA, and it will be a good test for Eye, whose only loss was to Aisling Daly back in 2011. The winner may be able to position themselves to fight for the title, which will be defended by Rousey against her rival Miesha Tate.
For the UFC, this is a great signing because it allows them to develop their bantamweight division, which gives them more matches to make in the future. Eye is a well-rounded fighter, who has been able to get numerous submissions in her career. It will be interesting to see how she fares in the UFC, and to see if she can put some wins together to make a run for the title.
