UFC Fight Night in Australia will feature a heavyweight bout between Antonio Silva and Mark Hunt. Both of these heavyweights are coming off brutal losses, so they will be looking to get back in the win column, in hopes of making another run at the heavyweight title.
Hunt comes into this heavyweight bout off a devastating KO loss to Junior Dos Santos. Santos was able to land a spinning wheel kick, which landed flush on Hunt’s head. It took Hunt’s title hopes away, and he will have to rebound off this loss in a big way. Before this loss, Hunt strung together four straight wins, and beat some quality fighters in Ben Rothwell, Cheick Kongo and Stefan Struve. A win over Silva would be huge for his career, and would certainly revitalize it.
Just like Hunt, Silva is coming off a devastating loss to Cain Velasquez. Coming into this championship bout, Silva was riding high off a two fight winning streak. However, Silva was stopped in the first round in his championship bout, and he will be looking to build his way back up to the top by getting a win over the heavy-handed Hunt.
This fight has the makings to be a classic, as both possess formidable striking skills. It will be interesting to see if Silva keeps the fight standing, as he has shown an impressive jiu jitsu game over the years, which is Hunt’s weakest skill-set. The winner gets back in the mix in the heavyweight division, so Hunt and Silva will be fighting with a sense of desperation.
