Mark Hunt Vs. Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva Set for Australia
Those of you out there that are fans of the big-boys need to mark down Dec. 21 on your calendar. On that date, Mark Hunt and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva have agreed to headline the Fight Night card. This is easily two of the best strikers in the Heavyweight division going at it, and with both of these guys’ histories of being underdogs, a crazy finish is not out of the question.
Hunt is coming off a loss to Junior Dos Santos in what was a No. 1 contender’s fight. Though the first two rounds were close, with both Dos Santos and Hunt finding some big shots, Dos Santos was able to land a spinning back kick to the head and turn the lights out on Hunt. Prior to that fight, Hunt was on a rampage in the Heavyweight division with a four-fight win streak.
Silva’s last fight was a failed bid to capture the UFC Heavyweight Title. Cain Velasquez was able to knockout Silva in the first round, but the fight before that, Silva was able to knockout Alistair Overeem in their meeting.
This is a pivotal match up at Heavyweight and could easily put the winner one win away from a title shot, especially since the Heavyweight division is tied up waiting for the winner of Velasquez vs. Dos Santos. Look for both of these fighters to come in to this fight looking to make a statement; both of these guys are serious finishers with a crazy twenty-two finishes between the two of them.
