A Lightweight bout has been added to the already stacked UFC 167 card, where Donald Cerrone and Evan Dunham will square off, hoping to remain relevant in the UFC. Both of these fighters are coming off a loss, so they will need a win to keep their fighting careers alive.

Cerrone’s latest performance wasn’t what he was expecting. Coming into the bout, Cerrone had been working with a sports psychologist in hopes of strengthening his mental game. However, as the fight played out with Rafael dos Anjos, Cerrone didn’t gun shy and didn’t pull the trigger when he needed to. Anjos was able to win a decision, sending Cerrone back down the lightweight ladder. If Cerrone wants to remain relevant in the division, he will need to get the killer instinct back; the one that he was synonymous for under the WEC banner.

Evan Dunham is at a crossroad in his fighting career. His latest loss was also to Anjos, who was able to beat Dunham via split decision. It was a close fight that many, including myself, thought Dunham won, but the end result is still a loss. Prior to this loss, he beat Gleison Tibau by way of split decision, where he was able to showcase some crisp strikes and an aggressive style. He will need this aggressive, well-rounded style against Cerrone if he wants to come out the victor.

Both of these fighters could certainly use a win, as another loss may result in the termination of their UFC fighting contract.
