An exciting welterweight bout has been added to the stacked UFC 167 card between Brian Ebersole and Rick Story. Both fighters are coming off losses, so they will be looking for an impressive win to get their name back in the mix in this stacked welterweight division. Ebersole and Story are veterans of the sport, so it will be an interesting chess match against two of the most well-rounded fighters in the division.
In Ebersole’s last UFC outing, he took on James Head, where he would lose a close split decision. Before this loss, Ebersole was on an 11 fight winning streak, so he will be looking to regain this momentum when he takes on Story, who is a powerful puncher. Ebersole has beat some quality opponents in his fighting tenure, including Chris Lytle, T.J. Walburger and Dennis Hallman.
Story comes into this important welterweight matchup also off a split decision loss to Mike Pyle. In the bout, Story was able to show his crisp, powerful striking, but ultimately wasn’t able to get the better of the ground battles. He will need to make some adjustments in this department if he wants to come out the victor against Ebersole, who is very unorthodox when it comes to grappling. Story has beat some of the best welterweights in the world, includinh Johny Hendricks and Jake Ellenberger. A few more tweaks to his game, and he could very well fight for the title.
It all goes down at UFC 167, which also features a welterweight championship between Georges St. Pierre and Hendricks.
