Previewing WSOF 5: Mike Kyle Vs Andrei Arlovski
WSOF 5 kicks off tomorrow night, which features an exciting heavyweight bout between former UFC heavyweight champ Andrei Arlovski and the always entertaining Mike Kyle, who trains out of The American Kickboxing Academy. Both fighters hold power in their hands, so this fight will more than likely not be going the distance.
Anthony Johnson was originally scheduled to face Pyle, but an injury forced him out of the card, giving Arlovski the chance to get a much needed victory under his belt. Arlovski has been one of the pioneers of MMA; he is most famous for his run in the UFC in which he was able to defeat Tim Sylvia to win the heavyweight strap. He would defend it twice until getting beat by Silva by way of KO.
Since the UFC days, Arlovski has fought in various promotions. Now with the WSOF, he has the chance to get marquee fights, in hopes of resurrecting his career, and this is certainly possible, as he is now training with Greg Jackson.
Kyle comes into this important heavyweight bout off an impressive KO finish over Travis Wiuff. This will be his WSOF debut, and he will be looking to show everyone that he still packs a punch. Kyle trains with one of the best gyms in MMA in American Kickboxing Academy. He has always been a heavy puncher, but has fell victim to submissions time and time again. Luckily, Arlovski is the type of fighter who welcomes a striking battle, so this shouldn’t be a problem for Kyle coming into Saturday’s main event.
This fight more than likely will not go the distance, and the winner keeps their name relevant under the WSOF promotion.
