Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez: How Many Rounds to Crown a Victor?

By Scott DelleFave

Tonight’s the night that Floyd “Money” Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will lock horns at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. It’ll be for Mayweather’s WBA Super (Light) Middleweight Title and Alvarez’s The Ring Light Middleweight Title and also his WBC Light Middleweight Title.

What makes this fight interesting is both of the fighters are undefeated and have knocked out most of their opponents.

While Alvarez is 13 years younger than Mayweather, Floyd has 13 more years of experience, and that is beyond invaluable in the ring. It can sometimes make up for an aging fighter’s lack of endurance as he has been through knock-down, drag-out wars over the years.

This will be Mayweather’s greatest test to date as Alvarez has been battle-tested despite being only 23-years old. He’s fought in 43 professional fights already, with only one of them ending in a draw, he won the rest with 30 of them by way of knockout.

Despite all the expectations that Alvarez has going into this fight, if one were a smart betting man, one would place their money on Floyd Mayweather. Mayweather’s fights have been going the distance lately, but this one will not do the same as he won’t chance it with all the hardware on the line. He will win in lucky round no. 7 over his latest challenger, and it probably won’t be pretty.
