WSOF 6 just booked another important bout between welterweights Jon Fitch and Marcelo Alfaya. Both of these fighters are looking to impress in hopes of moving up the division. An intriguing storyline that surrounding this fight revolves around Fitch, who is currently on a two-fight losing streak and desperately needs a win to revitalize his fighting career.

Fitch was one of the most dominant fighters under the UFC banner. Things were going well for him, and he was even able to fight for the welterweight title against Georges St. Pierre. Fitch came up short in the bout, but he showed tremendous heart in defeat. He would then go on to have several other fights, but his bout with Johny Hendricks and Demian Maia cost him his UFC job.

He then joined the WSOF promotion, going up against Josh Burkman in his first bout. Many expected Fitch to roll right past Burkman, but Burkman had other plans. He was able to get the better of the striking, eventually allowing him to lock up a guillotine that sent Fitch unconscious. It was the first time that Fitch had ever been submitted.

Fitch can’t afford to loose another bout, so he will need to come out strong against Marcelo, who trains with American Top Team and is on a three-fight winning streak. Fitch has always been known for his relentless grinding style and is one of the better wrestlers in MMA. A win would get his career back on the right track, and it would prove he still has what it takes to compete at a high level.
