Joe Warren considers himself “the baddest man on the planet,” and he was looking to prove this tonight for Bellator 101. His opponent, Nick Kirk, was looking to score one of the biggest wins of his career. This was a bout for the bantamweight tournament, where the winner keeps their momentum going in hopes of fighting for the title.

Early in the fight, both fighters were content to trade on the feet. It wasn’t until Warren scored a takedown that the momentum finally shifted in his favor. He was able to pepper Kirk with shots, and would secure a triangle/armbar combination. Kirk defended quite nicely for a while, but ultimately fell victim to an armbar in the second round.

Warren now sports an overall record of 9-3, and he will be looking to make some waves in the bantamweight division, in hopes of getting a crack at the champion, which is currently Eduardo Dantas. Tonight’s bout showcased Warren’s relentless pace, and he looks good dropping down from the featherweight division. Now, he has a sizable advantage in terms of strength, which bodes well for him going forward in the bantamweight tournament.

Warren is a great competitor inside the cage, and he was able to build his brand even more by being on the first season of Fight Master, a reality television show for fighters. In the show, he was able to teach fighters his techniques, and this coaching mentality has allowed him to revamp his own training, becoming a better overall fighter.
