Wladimir Klitschko And Miguel Cotto Shine
One of the greatest heavyweights to step into the ring, Wladimir Klitschko, squared off last night with Alexander Povetkin in Moscow. Coming into this bout, Wladimir has held his heavyweight title for seven years, which is an impressive feat for any fighter in this day an age. He often utilizes his range and precise punches to keep his opponents at bay, and it’s hard for many fighters to challenge him in this regard.
This was the case last night in Moscow, where Wladimir was able to stifle Povetkin’s offense by repeatedly clinching him. Wladimir would win a decision, but it wasn’t the most exciting, sensational performance that boxing fans were hoping for. But, at the end of the day, he retained his heavyweight titles and is still one of the best heavyweights along with his brother Vitali Klitschko in the sport of boxing.
Also, Miguel Cotto got back in action last night, facing a durable fighter in Delvin Rodriguez in Orlando, Florida. Cotto was on a two-fight losing streak, and he was hoping to turn things around going up against Delvin. He was able to do so, damaging Delvin to the body often in rounds one and two.
Then, in the third, he was able to crack Delving with a vicious left, which forced the ref to step in. It was a dominant win for Cotto, one he desperately needed after losing two straight. The win helped his career, and he may even be able to face Canelo Alvarez next, which would be a huge boxing match for both fighters.
