B.J. Penn is arguably one of the greatest lightweights in the history of the UFC. After coming back from the welterweight division, having put on some wars with Georges St. Pierre and Matt Hughes, Penn reestablished himself as a top pound-for-pound great. He would defeat Joe Stevenson to capture the lightweight belt, and then defend it in decisive fashion against Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez.

It wasn’t until Frankie Edgar came along that Penn started having some problems. He wound up losing two straight to Edgar, who was always able to outpoint Penn on the feet. Now, Penn is set to square off with Edgar for a third time, only this time it’s going to be in the featherweight division.

We have seen in the past that when Penn takes his diet and training seriously, he can do wonders in the cage. His only Achilles heel, if you will, has been his conditioning and fighting bigger opponents.

And now, it looks like Penn has enlisted the help of world renowned diet expert Mike Dolce to help him get down to the featherweight division. Dolce has been able to do wonders for fighters in terms of shedding a lot of weight, and the best part about it is he can get fighters to do it in a way that doesn’t jeopardize their health.

He has gotten weight cutting down to a science, and this certainly bodes well for Penn heading into the trilogy fight vs. Edgar, who will be looking to earn an impressive win in hopes of fighting for another title.
