UFC: Mark Munoz Has Huge Opportunity Against Lyoto Machida
Mark Munoz has battled through a lot in his career. He has had some tough fights in the UFC, such as with Matt Hamill and Chris Weidman, but he has always been able to come back stronger after a loss. Recently after his bout with Weidman, Munoz told sources that he fell into a deep depression.
He would even gain weight, which was predicated on his erratic eating cycles. However, he would rededicate himself to the sport, losing weight and looking to be in the best condition he has ever looked for his bout with Tim Boetsch. The results were so great that he was able to dominate Boetsch on the ground, proving he is one of the best fighters in terms of ground and pound.
Now Munoz is set to face Lyoto Machida, one of his friends and former training partners, in a bout that could very well determine who’s next to challenge for the title. It’s hard to fight friends, but Munoz sees this fight as an opportunity that very well could grant him a title shot if he can win in decisive fashion.
This will be Machida’s first time at middleweight in the UFC, and he is looking to also get a title shot. This will be a fantastic match, one that Munoz certainly can win if he uses his wrestling and top control. It’s amazing to see fighters go through ups and downs in their careers because it tests them not only as a fighter, but as a person as well. Munoz seems to be in the right place both mentally and physically, so it will be interesting to see what kind of success he can have against the always elusive Machida.
