It appears UFC contender Nick Diaz is thinking about making a trip back inside the octagon, but it has to be the right opponent. Gilbert Melendez, Diaz’s training partner and friend, told MMA media this recently. Michael Bisping heard this news, and apparently has challenged Diaz to a fight via Twitter:

@arielhelwani well if Diaz wants a fight at 185 I would happily welcome him to the division.

Coming from Diaz’s camp, it appears that he likes this fight too, and so does Dana White. This would certainly be a big name for Diaz, and a win over Bisping instantly puts him in the mix in the middleweight division. In terms of the trash talk, this fight would be epic.

Bisping has a history of getting under opponents’ skin, and he would surely look to do the same against Diaz. Diaz also has a history of getting into it with his opponents, and he says exactly what he is thinking, good or bad.

In terms of the stylistic match up, this bout would be intriguing for Bisping and Diaz. Bisping would have the size advantage, and it would be interesting to see if he could get the better of the grappling exchanges, as Bisping has underrated jiu jitsu skills. Diaz is a volume striker, and he rarely is in trouble on the feet, and it would be exciting to see him taunt Bisping in hopes of getting him to open up.

The bout has yet to be booked, but it certainly makes a lot sense for both fighters, seeing as how they both don’t have opponents lined up and it would be an entertaining one for the fans.

Dana White Doesn’t Think Conor McGregor Can Beat Rafael dos Anjos

Things are getting interesting ahead of UFC 196. The headlining fight at that March 5 pay-per-view event will see UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor move up to lightweight to face the champion of that division Rafael dos Anjos. If McGregor succeeds he will become the first UFC fighter to hold belts in two different divisions simultaneously. The oddsmakers have McGregor as the favorite ahead of the fight. UFC president Dana White doesn’t necessarily hold the same opinion.
