At the UFC Fight Night 30 post-fight press conference, Dana White announced that Alexander Gustafsson is going to challenge Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, which will take place in London on March 8. Gustafsson is coming of one of his best performances against Jon Jones, where he was almost able to take the title.
He will be looking to get a much-needed win over Nogueira, and it looks like Gustafsson will get another title shot if he can come out the victor. Gustafsson is the only fighter to almost beat Jones, making him look human in the process. Gustafsson was able to showcase his crisp striking and exceptional takedown defense, and he will be looking to come back stronger against Nogueira in hopes of getting another title shot.
Nogueira was last seen in the octagon against Rashad Evans. Surprisingly, Nogueira was able to shut down Evans for three rounds, earning a unanimous decision victory. He will be looking to showcase his power against Gustafsson in hopes of getting the biggest win of his career.
Also, this card will feature the rematch between Melvin Guillard and Ross Pearson, which ended in a no contest today when Melvin landed an illegal knee to Pearson. Both of these fighters will be looking to put on an exciting fight, and hopefully this rematch doesn’t end in controversy, as both fighters are looking to build some momentum in the heavily contested lightweight division. This card in London is shaping up to be a good one, and it should get several other entertaining fights before it’s finalized.
