Bellator 106 takes place tomorrow night, featuring a stacked card from top to bottom. Headlining the card is a terrific matchup between lightweight champ Michael Chandler and the former champ Eddie Alvarez. This fight was a fantastic bout first time around, and the rematch has the chance to be just as exciting. Let’s now take a look at the main card:
Featherweight: Mike Richmond vs. Akop Stepanyan: Both of these fighters are competent on the feet, but Richmond possess the better power. He will avoid any takedowns attempts from Akop, landing some good shots that will hurt him early.
Final Prediction: Mike Richmond wins via TKO in the first round
Welterweight: Joe Riggs vs. Mike Bronzoulis: Riggs is looking to resurrect his career, and he certainly has the chance to land something big on Mike. Riggs has a very underrated wrestling game and this will come in handy against his opponent. He will keep the fight standing and will pick Bronzoulis apart for three rounds.
Final Prediction: Joe Riggs wins via unanimous decision
Light Heavyweight: King Mo Lawal vs. Emanuel Newton: Both of these fighters have engaged in verbal warfare, and Newton certainly proved to be the better man the first time they squared off. However, Lawal is the better wrestler and he will not do anything flashy on the feet, looking getting the fight to the mat quickly. From there, he will land some brutal ground and pound.
Final Prediction: King Mo wins via TKO in the second round
Featherweight Championship: Pat Curran vs. Daniel Straus: This rematch should be entertaining as these are two of the best featherweights in the world. Curran finished Straus in their first outing, and both men have gotten better since that fight. Curran is the better boxer and possesses more power. He will keep the fight standing, landing good combinations that will rock Straus like in their first fight.
Final Prediction: Pat Curran wins via TKO in the second round
Lightweight Championship: Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez: In this rematch, there is a lot at stake. Chandler was able to sink in the submission in their first meeting and he has had plenty of time to develop his skills. Alvarez is a formidable opponent against any man, but he hasn’t been as active as Chandler, which will lead to his downfall.
He also gets hit too easily, which is where Chandler will shine. Early in the fight, Chandler will hit Alvarez, rocking him early. Alvarez will not be able to recover and Chandler will sink in a submission. This will be a quick night for Chandler.
Final Prediction: Michael Chandler wins via submission (rear-naked choke) in the first round
